APPOINTMENT AS SHADOW MINISTER FOR GOVERNMENT EFFICIENCY

It is an immense privilege to have been appointed as Shadow Minister for Government Efficiency within the Coalition.

Australia has suffered a devastating amount of government waste under the Albanese Labor government. Since coming to power, they have increased spending by $347 billion.

They’ve overseen a wasteful $450 million spent on the Voice referendum, millions on the ineffective role of the First Nations Ambassador as well as the new 36,000 public servants in Canberra.

This waste has made inflation and the cost-of-living crisis significantly worse, and all Australians are now paying the price. That is why it is more important than ever to cut government waste and ensure that government is operating as effectively and efficiently as possible.

This new responsibility will complement the work I will continue to do as Shadow Minister for Indigenous Australians.

The Coalition has already committed to undertaking an audit of expenditure in Indigenous affairs for the very purpose of ensuring efficiency. I look forward to the complementary task of increasing efficiency more broadly and ensuring government priorities align with the priorities of everyday Australians.

Under Anthony Albanese’s leadership, Australians feel worse not better and it’s time to get
Australia back on track.
