$266 MILLION LESS FOR APPRENTICES, $35 MILLION MORE FOR CANBERRA ADVICE

Senator Jacinta Nampijinpa Price says Labor’s Budget priorities are all wrong — identifying $266 million in savings through reforms to the Australian Apprenticeships Incentive System, while allocating another $35 million to Jobs and Skills Australia to provide advice.

“At a time when employers are struggling to find workers and Australia continues to face workforce shortages, Labor has chosen more Canberra bureaucracy over practical support,” Senator Nampijinpa Price said.

“The Government’s own Budget papers identify $266 million in savings through reforms to the Australian Apprenticeships Incentive System.”

“Australia does not have a shortage of reports and advisory bodies. It has a shortage of skilled workers.”

“You cannot build homes, strengthen industry or expand opportunity without apprentices, tradies and skilled Australians.”

“Labor says this is reform. Australians are entitled to ask why the Government is finding $266 million in apprenticeship savings while spending another $35 million on more Canberra advice.”

“Businesses need workers. Apprentices need pathways. Australians need outcomes.”
